Ingredients
  

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika regular or smoked
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce your favorite variety

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Rub with olive oil, then season both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Arrange the seasoned chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the chicken is almost fully cooked.
  • Remove the dish from the oven and generously brush barbecue sauce over each chicken breast.
  • Return to the oven and bake for another 5–8 minutes, until the sauce is sticky and caramelized and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

 
  • Pound thicker chicken breasts to an even thickness for more even cooking.
  • Use your favorite barbecue sauce to customize the flavor.
  • Add the BBQ sauce during the last few minutes of baking to prevent burning.
  • For extra caramelization, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching carefully.
