Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish drained
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickles finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon white onion finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the pickles and onion: Finely chop the dill pickles and white onion. Drain any excess liquid from the sweet pickle relish to keep the sauce thick and creamy.
  • Combine the main ingredients: Add the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, chopped dill pickles, onion, lemon juice, and yellow mustard to a mixing bowl.
  • Add the seasonings: Add the dried dill, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir until everything is evenly combined, then taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
  • Chill the sauce: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend and develop.
  • Stir and serve: Stir the chilled sauce before serving. Enjoy it with crispy fish, shrimp, fish sandwiches, chicken tenders, or French fries.

Notes

  • Chill before serving: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors blend.
  • Adjust the tanginess: Add a little extra lemon juice or mustard if you prefer a tangier sauce.
  • Control the sweetness: Adjust the sugar or sweet pickle relish according to your taste.
  • Keep it creamy: Drain excess liquid from the pickles and relish before mixing.
  • Storage: Keep the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within 3–4 days for best quality.
  • Freezing: Freezing is not recommended because mayonnaise-based sauces may separate and become watery.
  • Serving ideas: Serve with fried fish, shrimp, fish sandwiches, crab cakes, or French fries.
