Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-In

  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon butter or cooking spray

Instructions

  • Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • Mix the Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Make the Batter: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips. Do not overmix.
  • Heat the Pan: Lightly grease a nonstick skillet or griddle and heat over medium heat.
  • Cook the Pancakes: Pour about 1/4 cup batter onto the hot skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on top and the edges begin to set, about 2–3 minutes.
  • Flip: Flip the pancakes carefully and cook for another 1–2 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • Serve: Stack the pancakes and serve warm with maple syrup, butter, whipped cream, fresh berries, or extra chocolate chips.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter; a few lumps help create fluffier pancakes.
  • Allow the batter to rest for 5 minutes before cooking.
  • Cook over medium heat to prevent burning the chocolate chips.
  • Add extra chocolate chips on top of the batter after pouring onto the skillet for a bakery-style look.
  • Leftover pancakes can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
