Ingredients

For the Donut Holes

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • Cooking oil spray as needed

For the Vanilla Cream Filling

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk or the amount specified on the pudding package

For the Chocolate Topping

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Prepare the Biscuit Dough: Open the refrigerated biscuit package and separate the biscuits. Cut each biscuit into smaller, evenly sized pieces and gently roll them into balls.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 325°F (163°C), if recommended by your appliance. Lightly coat the basket with cooking oil spray and arrange the dough balls in a single layer, leaving space between them.
  • Air Fry the Donut Holes: Air fry the dough balls for approximately 5–8 minutes, checking them early and turning them if necessary. Cook until lightly golden and fully cooked in the center. Transfer them to a wire rack and let them cool.
  • Prepare the Vanilla Filling: Whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with cold milk according to the package directions. Refrigerate until thickened, then transfer the pudding to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
  • Fill the Donut Holes: Once the donut holes have cooled, make a small opening in the side of each one. Insert the piping tip and gently squeeze in the vanilla pudding, taking care not to overfill.
  • Make the Chocolate Topping: Place the chocolate chips in a heat-safe bowl. Warm the heavy cream until hot but not boiling, then pour it over the chocolate. Let it sit briefly before stirring until smooth and glossy. Allow the topping to cool slightly.
  • Dip and Serve: Dip the top of each filled donut hole into the chocolate topping. Allow the excess to drip off, then place the donut holes on a serving tray or wire rack. Let the chocolate set slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use regular refrigerated biscuits rather than flaky-layer biscuits for a more consistent texture.
  • Leave space between the dough balls so hot air can circulate during cooking.
  • Air fryer cooking times vary, so check the donut holes early and make sure the centers are fully cooked.
  • Allow the donut holes to cool before filling them with vanilla pudding.
  • Let the chocolate topping cool slightly before dipping for a thicker, more attractive coating.
  • Store leftover filled donut holes in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy them within two days for the best texture.
  • For food safety, refrigerate the milk-based filling promptly and avoid leaving filled donuts at room temperature for more than two hours.
