Taco night hits different when you skip the packet. This homemade taco seasoning comes together in under two minutes, uses spices you probably already have, and tastes so much better than anything sitting on a grocery store shelf. Once you try it, going back feels impossible.

- 1 tbsp Chili powder mild or hot, your choice
- 1½ tsp Ground cumin
- 1 tsp Sea salt adjust to taste
- ½ tsp Ground black pepper
- ½ tsp Smoked paprika
- ½ tsp Garlic powder
- ½ tsp Onion powder
- ¼ tsp Crushed red pepper flakes reduce for mild version
- ¼ tsp Dried oregano
Gather all your spices and set them on the counter so everything is within easy reach.2. Add all the ingredients into a small bowl and stir well until fully combined and evenly mixed.3. Transfer the seasoning into an airtight jar or spice container and seal tightly.
- Make a big batch: This recipe doubles and triples easily. Mix a large jar and keep it on hand for the whole month.
- Adjust the heat: Start with ¼ tsp red pepper flakes for mild heat. Add up to ½ tsp if you like things spicy.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight. Stays fresh for up to 6 months.
- How much to use: Use 2–3 tablespoons per pound of ground meat. Add a splash of water while cooking to help the spices coat evenly.
